Some of the neat specialty hand-crafted papers at Hiromi Paper!

I have some exciting news! I'm in LA visiting my long-distance partner, and every time I do this I make a pilgrimage to this beautiful little shop nearby called Hiromi Paper. It's like a candy store for papermancers; weird paper, cool paper, beautiful paper, complex paper...while the store mainly focuses on the Japanese paper arts, they also have several other interesting and unusual forms of paper – such as these thin-sliced wood business cards:

Now that I have something to advertise here at papermancy, one of these will be mine...

Or, if you want to go really unusual, try an entire notepad made of this:

Yes, this is still on my desk.

Anyway, they are very busy over there, but they've given me permission to come in and video/photograph the store under my own narration – which I'll be doing tomorrow.

They also invited me to send them a list of questions. I've got my own, but I thought I'd open it up to you all here as well. You can read more about the amazing immersion into the world of book and papermaking on their blog, or just look at their store online (I'm not sponsored (but wouldn't mind being!)). What would you like to ask them? You can tell me in...

The comments!

I apologize for not having these enabled sooner – every member, free and paid, can now comment. Yes, you have to log in (blame it on the bots) but I'd love to hear from you and now you can.

So let me know what you'd like to know about Hiromi Paper, or anything else. You can also ask me to get closeups or give on-the-spot reports on any of the materials they might have in the store.

Stay tuned to this space for an upcoming video!
